Broadacre on-farm and industrial irrigation

As a nationwide Valley® Irrigation dealer, WaterForce supplies, installs and supports centre pivots and linears throughout New Zealand, irrigating everything from pasture and forage crops to arable and seed production systems. Valley pivots are a core solution for many broadacre farms, supported by irrigation layouts designed to suit individual blocks, soils, crops and water availability.

Beyond pivot and linear systems, broad acre irrigation often requires a mix of solutions. These include travelling irrigators for flexible coverage, high-quality sprinklers and application hardware to achieve uniform water distribution, and control technologies that support accurate scheduling and good management practice. Combined through thoughtful system design and professional installation, these irrigation systems are built to deliver water efficiently, perform reliably under demanding conditions, and support consistent production over the long term.

Small block irrigation

Small block irrigation systems require flexibility, accuracyand ease of use. WaterForce designs irrigation solutions for lifestyle blocks, horticulture, cropping and specialist farming operations, ensuring water is applied evenly and efficiently across smaller or irregular areas.

Solutions range from compact travelling irrigators suited tolighter applications, to movable boom systems that provide consistent coverage across paddocks and cropped areas. Pod-based sprinkler systems offer apractical and scalable option for pasture and forage blocks, while fixed andsemi-fixed systems, including pop-up sprinklers, are commonly used in orchards, vineyards and landscaped production areas where precision is critical.

Each system is designed around block layout, terrain, watersupply and future needs, resulting in irrigation that is easy to manage, adaptable as operations change, and capable of delivering reliable performance season after season.

On-farm and industrial wastewater applications

Irrigation plays a key role in effective wastewater and effluent management. WaterForce designs irrigation systems that allow nutrients to be applied safely and evenly, while protecting soils, waterways and surrounding environments.

On dairy farms, this includes injected and underslung application systems integrated into centre pivots, enabling controlled effluent distribution across large areas. Movable wastewater irrigation systems provide flexibility where paddock access, storage or application timing varies throughout the season.

For municipal and industrial wastewater projects, irrigation systems are designed to handle higher loads, variable water quality and long-term operational demands. These solutions draw on specialist expertise in water-for-industry applications, supporting reliable performance, regulatory compliance and sustainable land application outcomes.

Technology and compliance tools

Irrigation performance is increasingly driven by technology and data. WaterForce supports modern irrigation systems with control, monitoring and evaluation tools that improve water-use efficiency and simplify compliance.

Variable rate irrigation allows application rates to be adjusted across different soil types and management zones, reducing waste and improving consistency. Remote monitoring and control platforms provide visibility of system operation, supported by alerts and reporting that help identify issues early.

System evaluations, upgrades and optimisation services help improve performance of existing irrigation assets. Compliance support includes application uniformity testing, water metering and soil moisture monitoring, providing the information required to meet consent conditions and demonstrate responsible water use.

Whole of life service and support

Reliable irrigation depends on ongoing care and timely support. WaterForce provides whole-of-life service to keep irrigation systems operating at peak performance throughout their working life.

This includes access to extensive pivot and irrigation component stock held nationally, enabling fast repairs and reduced downtime. Sprinkler pack reviews and upgrades help maintain application uniformity and improve efficiency as systems age.

Regular system assessments identify wear, performance issuesand opportunities for improvement, while experienced service crews provide bothpreventative maintenance and responsive field support. This approach protectsirrigation investment, supports long-term reliability and ensures systemscontinue delivering value year after year.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to some of our most common agriculture and stockwater questions.

Do you supply and service centre pivot irrigation systems across New Zealand?

Yes. WaterForce is a nationwide Valley® Irrigation dealer supplying, installing, and providing ongoing Valley pivot service across New Zealand. This includes full Valley Pivot servicing NZ wide, covering centre pivot installations, Valley centre pivot upgrades, and responsive pivot service for existing systems.

What does Valley pivot servicing include?

Valley Pivot servicing includes mechanical inspections, electrical checks, gearbox and driveline servicing, sprinkler pack assessments, control system checks, and performance optimisation. Regular Valley pivot service helps maintain uniform application, reduce breakdown risk, and extend the working life of Valley irrigators.

Do you service and support existing centre pivots and Valley irrigators?

Yes. We provide centre pivot irrigation servicing and support for both Valley centre pivot and Valley Linear systems, including systems not originally installed by WaterForce. Our service teams work across NZ to support irrigation reliability during critical irrigation periods.

What is the difference between centre pivot irrigation and linear irrigation systems?

Centre pivot irrigation systems rotate around a fixed point and are well suited to large, open paddocks. Linear irrigators, also known as linear irrigation pivots, move in a straight line and are often used on rectangular or irregular blocks. WaterForce designs and supports both centre pivot NZ and linear irrigation systems to suit block shape, soils, and water supply.

Do you supply and service linear irrigators?

Yes. We supply, install, and service linear irrigators across a range of agricultural applications. Linear irrigation pivot systems are supported through full design, commissioning, and ongoing servicing to ensure consistent water application and reliable operation over time.

What other broad acre irrigation systems to you work with?

In addition to pivots and linears, we work with travelling irrigators, shiftable irrigators, k-line irrigation, hard hose travelling irrigators such as Ocmis irrigators, pod irrigation systems, and fixed sprinkler systems (solid set). These solutions are often combined to suit farm layout, crop rotation, and seasonal requirements.

Are travelling irrigators suitable for smaller or irregular paddocks?

Yes. Travelling irrigators and hard hose travelling irrigators are commonly used where flexibility is required or where permanent systems are not practical. WaterForce designs travelling irrigator solutions that match application depth, pressure, and coverage requirements for both small blocks and broad acre farms.

Can you help with stock effluent disposal and wastewater irrigation?

Yes. Travelling irrigators and hard hose travelling irrigators are commonly used where flexibility is required or where permanent systems are not practical. WaterForce designs travelling irrigator solutions that match application depth, pressure, and coverage requirements for both small blocks and broad acre farms.

Are travelling irrigators suitable for smaller or irregular paddocks?

Yes. WaterForce designs irrigation systems for stock effluent disposal, including dairy farm effluent application through centre pivot irrigation, linear irrigators, and movable systems. These systems are designed to apply nutrients safely and evenly while protecting soils and meeting consent requirements.

Do you provide irrigation solution for industrial and municpal wastewater?

Yes. We design irrigation systems for industrial and municipal wastewater applications, including high load and variable quality water. These systems draw on our broader water-for-industry expertise and are engineered for reliability, compliance, and long term performance.

Do you suypport irrigation compliance and performance testing?

Yes. We support irrigation compliance through application uniformity testing, water metering, soil moisture monitoring, and system evaluations. These services help demonstrate responsible water use and support consent conditions for centre pivot irrigation, linear irrigation systems, and other irrigation assets.

What ongoing support do you provide after installation?

WaterForce provides whole-of-life support including preventative maintenance, responsive repairs (24/7 call-outs), pivot service New Zealand wide, access to spare parts, and system optimisation. This approach ensures centre pivot irrigation, Valley irrigators, linear irrigators, and travelling irrigators continue performing reliably year after year.
